Invisible Braces Orthodontics In Boulder, CO
Traditional metal braces are a well-known and common treatment for many types of jaw or tooth misalignment. In fact, primitive versions of this idea have been found in the archeological record going back thousands of years. Even the ancient Egyptians used a form of braces.
Our modern methods and materials are obviously much more advanced than what you’d find on an Egyptian mummy. Just one of those many advancements that we’re excited to provide for you is the use of clear or invisible braces.

What Are Invisible Braces?
Invisible braces are almost exactly identical to the traditional metal braces that you see on TV and in the movies, but with one significant difference—the materials used are, as the name implies, almost completely invisible!
Yes, you read that right. It’s now possible to get the effective orthodontic treatment of braces without the bracket-and-wire smile. This form of teeth braces blends in with your natural teeth so well that many people won’t even realize you are wearing them.
The Benefits of Invisible Braces
A Cosmetic Solution
Well, the first obvious benefit is their invisibility! Orthodontic treatment is not something that needs to distract from your smile or the rest of your face. Now, you get to focus on improving your smile permanently without sacrificing your current looks.
Variety of Treatment Uses
Invisible braces are also a discrete way to handle complicated orthodontic treatment. Invisalign and other kinds of braces cannot do large adjustments in your bite nor can they move teeth from behind one another. Invisible braces can do all of that and more!
Cost
Their cost is comparable to other regular braces, meaning that you don’t have to pay more for a discrete way to straighten your teeth. If you are interested in the cost of your orthodontic work you can always call us for an estimate.
How Do Invisible Braces Work?
The short answer to that question is exactly like traditional wire and bracket metal braces. The braces are just made out of discrete materials so no one can see them.
Nothing about the invisible braces system is complicated or problematic, compared to regular braces. The process is exactly the same.
Step
01
Modeling Your Teeth
Step one is to make a model of your teeth. In the past, this was done by having you bite into a modeling material and letting that take the impression of your teeth. These days, we can image your mouth digitally, using the E4D scanner.
Step
02
Creating the Treatment Plan
Once the digital model has been made, that information is used to create the treatment plan. We decide where to put pressure in order to guide your teeth to their ideal locations.
Step
03
Applying the Clear Braces
Clear wires and brackets are placed on your teeth, putting that pressure in just the right spots.
Step
04
Regular Adjustments
Every few weeks, you’ll come in for an adjustment. At these appointments, we check that the treatment plan is proceeding as it should, and we tighten the wires accordingly.
How Are Invisible Braces Invisible?
The brackets used in clear braces are usually made of ceramic or polycarbonate. Sometimes they can be combined. Both of these materials are resistant to breakage or staining, which helps them to stay clear for the whole duration of your treatment.
To these brackets are attached dental wires that are color-matched to your specific teeth. With modern technology, we can color-match many dental appliances so effectively that they become indistinguishable from the teeth around them.
