Beautiful Porcelain Dental Crowns in
Lafayette, CO
Do you have a tooth that is suffering from extensive damage or needs protection after a root canal? A dental crown covers and protects your tooth, allowing you to keep your tooth and tooth root while shielding it from further damage or decay.
Crowns can also replace the cosmetic aspects of your tooth. If a tooth is severely discolored or has a large crack, crowns will match the color of your other teeth, restoring your tooth back to its previous state. You won’t even be able to tell it is there!
Boulder cosmetic dentist, Gordon West, DDS, can create a custom top-quality porcelain crown designed for a perfect fit and finish. Our Lafayette, CO, area patients are thrilled with the results of a beautifully restored smile and love Dr. West.
What Are the Benefits of Porcelain Crowns?
When you need protection for a damaged tooth, porcelain crowns may be the answer you have been looking for! We have chosen to use porcelain crowns because they offer:
Durability
Porcelain is incredibly durable, along with being stain-resistant.
Cosmetic improvements
Our crowns can be custom-matched to your other teeth.
Safety
Porcelain is a non-reactive material, which makes it very safe to use for crowns.
Long-lasting results
Crowns last anywhere between 15–20 years with good care.
Oral health improvements
Crowns protect teeth without damaging the tooth root.
The Porcelain Crown Procedure in Boulder, CO
The procedure for placing porcelain dental crowns for teeth is fairly simple.
Step
01
Before the Dental Crown Procedure
Dr. West first examines your mouth and makes an impression of your teeth, so we can create a plan for the placement of your new tooth cap.
Step
02
Preparing Your Tooth for a Dental Crown
Dr. West prepares the natural tooth for the new dental crown. A temporary tooth crown is then attached to the natural tooth to provide protection while your permanent dental crown is being made.
Step
03
Placing the New Dental Crown
About a week after the first visit, you will return to our dentist’s office in Boulder County. During your second appointment, the temporary dental crown is removed, and the permanent tooth crown is securely fitted.
Step
04
The End Result
At the end of your dental crown procedure, you can walk out of our office with a beautiful, full smile! Your new porcelain tooth crown needs to be brushed and flossed just like a regular tooth. We can show you how to best care for your crown.
Single-Visit Crowns
Beyond our porcelain crowns, we also offer E4D single-visit crowns, where you can come in and have a crown placed in one visit! Our porcelain crowns and E4D crowns both have different advantages. For complicated causes when your teeth need more care and preparation we will likely recommend a traditional porcelain crown.
Do You Have a Metal Tooth Crown?
If you have all-metal dental crowns that keep you from smiling, Dr. West can place porcelain crowns over your metal crowns or fully replace your metal crown, restoring the look of your natural teeth. Replacing metal crowns with tooth-colored porcelain can improve your smile and increase your confidence!
