Dentists will pay $1 per pound of Candy
Local Dentists take a stand against sweets this halloween
Halloween is coming, and normally it’s hard for your dentist to get excited about that day because of all the candy your kids will eat. However, this year will be different. Don’t you sometimes wish that on the day after Halloween that your kids’ sacks full of candy would just disappear? Well we can help, and this is something that we are really excited about!
This year we will buy back all of that excess candy from your kids! No kidding! Sure they can eat their fill on Halloween and stash away a few choice pieces for later, but we’ll take the rest and pay them for it. The candy will be shipped overseas to our courageous troops serving our country in the Middle East. In return, we’ll give your kids $1 per pound of candy and a flashing firefly toothbrush.
Global sugar consumption for kids increases by about 2% annually and currently sits at 50 million tons per year, which means parents need to be more vigilant now than ever before. Too much candy can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain, as well as cavities or worse, broken teeth and damaged braces.
We still want the kids to have a great time dressing up and trick or treating, and yes, eat some candy. But even after they have their fill and pick out some choice “keepers” they will still probably have about 10 pounds left, and nobody needs that much candy.
We look forward to seeing you and helping out our troops with some treats from home. Visit Dr. Alber’s office in Boulder or Dr. West’s office in Lafayette. Bring your kids and your candy in on November 5 between 3 and 6 p.m. This is open to all kids, not just patients!
